Is It Time?
Signs Your Home Is Ready for a Remodel
Good to know. If you see structural damage, a sagging roof, active leaks, a gas smell or electrical hazards, leave the area if needed and call a professional right away. For a free consultation on your remodel, call us at 615-357-7797.

A Kitchen That Fights You
Too little counter space, a layout that makes you walk in circles, dated cabinets and dim lighting all point to a kitchen that no longer fits how you live.
Why it happens
- A closed-in or awkward layout
- Worn cabinets and tired surfaces
- Not enough storage or light
What to consider
- Sketch how you cook and entertain, note what frustrates you and explore layouts and finishes. A good design fixes the flow first.

A Bath That Feels Dated or Cramped
Pink tile, a cramped tub-shower, a single small sink and poor ventilation make a bathroom feel older than it is.
Why it happens
- Outdated tile, vanity and fixtures
- A layout that wastes space
- Poor lighting and ventilation
What to consider
- Decide what you want most: a walk-in shower, a double vanity, more storage. Then plan the layout, waterproofing and finishes together.

Closed-Off, Dark Rooms
Walls that chop up the floor plan can make a home feel smaller and darker than it is, and make entertaining harder.
Why it happens
- Walls between kitchen, dining and living
- Small windows and low light
- Awkward traffic paths
What to consider
- Have the walls evaluated. Many can be opened with the right beam, and the result can change how the whole house feels.

Worn or Damaged Floors
Stained carpet, scratched finishes, gaps and creaks make a room feel tired, and new floors are one of the biggest visual upgrades.
Why it happens
- Carpet that has reached its end
- Scratched or sun-faded finishes
- Damaged or uneven subfloors
What to consider
- Choose a material for how each room is used, check the subfloor and plan transitions so the whole home flows.

Leaks, Stains or an Aging Roof
Ceiling stains, missing shingles and granules in the gutters mean it is time to have your roof inspected before small problems grow.
Why it happens
- Age and weathering
- Failed flashing or vents
- Storm damage
What to consider
- Have the roof inspected, take photos of any stains and fix the cause first. Delay lets water do more damage.

Wasted Space Under, Over or Beside the House
An unfinished basement, an empty attic or a garage you never park in is space you pay for but do not use.
Why it happens
- An unfinished basement
- An unused attic or bonus space
- A garage that could be a living space
What to consider
- Evaluate headroom, moisture and access, then decide whether you need a suite, a lounge, an office or a gym.
General information, not an inspection. If you see structural damage, a sagging roof, active leaks or electrical hazards, call a professional right away.

Before You Begin
Five Things to Decide First
Decide what is not working and what you want most, then rank your wish list so you know where to spend and where to save. Gather photos of rooms you love, and note how you actually use each space.
Then think about timing and logistics: when you want to be done, whether you will stay in the house, what permits are likely and how long materials such as cabinetry can take. A clear plan makes the whole project calmer.

What is the difference between remodeling and renovating?
Renovating restores or updates what is already there. Remodeling changes the layout, function or style of a space. Many projects do a bit of both.
Is it better to remodel or move?
It depends on your home, your neighborhood and what you want. If you love where you live and the house has good bones, a remodel can give you the home you want without moving.
How much should I budget for contingencies?
Many remodelers suggest setting aside a cushion of roughly ten to twenty percent for surprises, especially in older homes. Our Remodel Budget Planner includes one.
What if you find a problem behind the walls?
It happens, especially in older homes. We explain what we found, your options and any change in scope before proceeding.
